This is a painting completed in February 2005. It probably took a total of around 65-75 hours to complete. The small images are step by step photographs taken during the painting process, and the large image is the final painting after detail and skin texture are added with an eraser and colored pencil. The main colors are blocked in at the beginning, but refinement is withheld until the very end.

Invisible Man Liu Bolin - The Amazing Human Chameleon

There exists some extraordinary people who have the ability to put the naked human eyes into an illusion by their disappearing act. One of those talents is being possessed by the young Beijing-based artist Liu Bolin who keeps on amazing the whole world with his talent of blending himself into the surroundings by making his own body as the art material. The camouflage act performed by the 36 years Liu Bolin, works more than 10 hours for each art image, has got international appreciation. His works are so effective that people fails to spot him when he performs as a human chameleon blending himself into the objects like bulldozers, flags, buildings and signs, etc. Apart from art, his works, as Liu Bolin says, is also a protest against the government, who shut down his studio in 2005.
